In her whirlwind career as a DJ and content creator, Chantel Jeffries has spent the past few years traveling the world and exploring international music scenes of all kinds. An in-demand DJ who’s spun at major events like the Vanity Fair Oscar party, the 24-year-old producer is now set to deliver her debut EP Calculated Luck—a selection of songs revealing her artfully arranged, hip-hop-infused take on dance music. Those songs include her recent single “Wait,” a bright and beat-heavy instant smash that’s hit #4 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart and amassed over 30 million streams worldwide and marks the first release from Universal Music Group’s newly launched 10:22 pm label in partnership with Capitol Records. As with all of Jeffries’s music, “Wait” matches her sharp instincts and sonic ingenuity with the immaculate sound design the former math whiz achieves by using mathematical sequencing.
Along with creating Calculated Luck, Jeffries has devoted much of the past year to DJ-ing, including performing a series of sets at legendary Las Vegas venues Wet Republic and OMNIA. Also a model and brand ambassador for the likes of L’Oreal, she recently became the face of leading fashion-eyewear company Quay Australia’s new blue-light-blocking clear-lens glasses campaign. In addition, Jeffries is now developing her own line of merchandise, to be released simultaneously with Calculated Luck later this year.
