Multi-talented and easy on the eye, Azealia Banks is a 26 year-old MC, singer-songwriter and actress. Raised in Harlem, NYC, she performed as a child actor in off-Broadway theater with the Tada! Youth Theater, and attended the famed La Guardia High School of Performing Arts. She began releasing music through MySpace in 2008, and was signed to XL Recordings at the age of 17. Her debut single “212” earned her a record deal with Interscope, as well as rave reviews from Pitchfork, the BBC, and the NME.
Her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste, was released in 2014, followed by a mixtape, Slay-Z, in 2016. She has written a demo song, “La Dominadora” for Rihanna, Azealia will be releasing her second album, currently titled Business & Pleasure, in 2018. In the meantime she is making a return to acting, taking the title role in the RZA-directed film Coco.
She has graced the covers of magazines including Vibe (with Diplo), Paper, and Billboard, and was photographed nude by Ellen Von Unwerth for Playboy, becoming the first hip-hop artist to grace its pages, and collaborated with M∙A∙C cosmetics to create Yung Rapunxel, a limited-edition lipstick in a deep plum shade.
Outspoken and confident, Azealia is socially and politically active, and has a strong social media presence. Whichever of her talents she is utilizing, this native New York polymath never gives less than her all.
